The Polar Geospatial Center (PGC) was founded in 2007 as the Antarctic Geospatial Information Center (AGIC, funded by NSF) and has since expanded to support both polar regions. PGC provides geospatial support in the form of mapping, data delivery, and GIS analysis to science and logistics communities of the NSF’s Arctic and Antarctic research programs. Deploying PGC staff collect ground control points to calibrate imagery, gather satellite and aerial imagery from a variety of national and international sources, and provide results to science project grantees in GIS data formats, maps, and paper documents.
