Research objectives of the Polar Geospatial Center are: 1. To provide geospatial support (in the form of mapping, data delivery, and GIS analysis) to science and logistics communities of the U.S. Arctic and Antarctic programs; 2. Gather ground control points and provide results in GIS data formats, maps, and paper documents; 3. Use ground control data to create more accurate maps and to correct elevation models; and 4. Use satellite imagery from myriad sources, combined with ground control, to conduct collaborative research across several science disciplines.
